New in 2020
This year, the Impreza’s front-end gets a little makeover, and the wheels of the Impreza Sport and Limited come with a new sleek look. The Sport and the Limited also feature Si-Drive, which is an engine management system that adjusts your engine function based on driving style and preferences. Also new in 2020 is the addition of EyeSight driver-assisted technology on all models that have Lineartronic CVTs (continuously variable transmissions).
Engine and Transmission
The Impreza comes with a direct-injection 2.0-liter box engine. It’s got 4 cylinders and puts out 152 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque. If you pick up the base or Sport trim, you’ll get a 5-speed manual transmission with your Impreza that gets 23 mpg in the city and 31 on the highway as a sedan. As a hatchback, these numbers fall to 22 mpg city/30 mpg highway. The other trims come with a 5-speed CVT automatic transmission that pulls 27 mpg city and 35-36 mpg highway, depending on whether you have the hatchback or the sedan.
Safety
The Imprezas all come with a standard suite of airbags, including front, front-side-impact, side-curtain and knee airbags. Additionally, there’s the EyeSight suite of features, which includes automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and lane-departure warning.
